Drug Control Authorities at the APM terminals in Limon, Costa Rica discovered 3.5 metric tons of cocaine that was attempted to be smuggled out of the country, en route to the Dutch port of Rotterdam.
The shipment has an estimated street value of $12 million dollars in Costa Rica and about $25 million dollars in Europe.
The Ministry of Public Security, Michael Soto Rojas highlighted the work of police who has prevented six shipments of cocaine from leaving the country.
“In these almost three months we have seized in containers almost six tons of cocaine. In 2019 there were 10 seizures, which totaled five tons, while in 2020 16 tons were seized in 18 containers,” he said.
